Beaver Lodge - October 30th SPOOOKY SHOW

Trick or beaver! Welcome to the super special spoooooky beaver special show. I tried my darnest to do a set list with spoooooky songs, although most of these are quite, y'know, cheery, so fuck it. The names are vaguely creepy! Quiver in fear before me, tiny mortals!

Atomic 7 - Day of the Deadbeats
Metric - Monster Hospital
Creature - Don't Be Afraid
You Say Party! We Say Die! - Monster
The Creepshow - Buried Alive
Tsunami Bomb - Planet, Schmanet, Janet
Azeda Booth - Dead Girls
Lesbians on Ecstasy - Sedition
Dance Yourself to Death - Living Funeral
Scratching Post - I'm Your Demon
Hunter Valentine - Rotting Love Guts
Melissa Auf der Maur - Beast of Honour
Tegan and Sara - Walking with a Ghost
Spiral Beach - We Saw Ghosts
Peaches - Tombstone, Baby

Remember! Help me keep the show on air: donate! My children need wine!

Beaver Lodge - October 23, 2008

Here's to another week.

This opening set feels incredibly laid back. Also, listening back to my interviews, I realize how odd I sound. I'm amazed sometimes that the guests don't just scream, "YOU'RE WEIRD." and slam the phone down.

I'd like to thank Ryan for coming on the show and not doing that.

Atomic 7 - Chock Full O'Notes
Jill Barber - Oh My My
Flotilla - Volcano
Elsiane - Morphing
Mother Mother - Body of Years
Modern Boys Modern Girls - Leave the Army, Lose Completely
Metric - Handshakes
Dance Yourself to Death - Chemical Reaction
Hunter Valentine - Break This
Die Mannequin - Hand In Hand
Crimson in the Attic - A Rising Crescendo
Stars - Look Up
Creature - Bridget Bardot

I AM WATCHING YOU FROM MY RADIO CAMERA.

That is all.

Blodge 1.5: I am currently eating all the celery in your fridge.

THIS WEEK ON THE BEAVER LODGE:
  • An interview with Ryan Guldemon from Mother Mother, in which we discuss the finer points of American politics and the economic crisis (and if you believe that last half of that sentence, you clearly have not tuned into the show before and should go back to listening to Take 5 in the mornings).
  • Info about FUN-D-RAISING, because you can't spell "fundraising" without "gin".
  • A call for Halloween stories, costume ideas, and for you to bring me candy at the station next week.
Stop chewing my desk,

- Alex

The Beaver Lodge: THE BLOGGING OF THE BLODGE

Oh crap, you found me.

Welcome to the attempted opening of the Beaver Lodge Blog (or the Blodge, for short). Here I will list all kinds of fun things, such as:
  • song listings!
  • upcoming interviews!
  • news for the Facebook impaired or those avoiding its all-seeing eyes!
  • random thoughts that I have while I'm hosting the show that somehow don't make it into the babbling that I do on-air.
So since I'm currently writing this on a Saturday and am nowhere near the station, I don't really have much to add in the vein of the last bullet point (although I am contemplating going out and buying a pomegranate because I feel like a snack), but for the people who requested a site for those who are desperately trying to avoid the sticky, unforgiving clutches of Facebook, here's the track listing for last week:

THE BEAVER LODGE: October 16th (or: the show with songs for the unfortunate lover)

Atomic 7 - Chock Full O' Notes
Bad Flirt - Double Double Date
Bela - Don't Sleep Alone
Bif Naked - Rich and Filthy
Creepshow - Rock and Roll Sweetheart
Controller.Controller - Sleep Over It
The Stolen Minks - Get Wet
The Elixxers - Gold Digger
Die Mannequin - Saved By Strangers
Mother Mother - O My Heart
You Say Party! We Say Die! - Cold Hands! Hot Bodies!
Library Stories - Love in the Age of Absurdity
Tegan and Sara - My Number
Woodpigeon - Love in the Time of Hopscotch
Esthero feat. Sean Lennon - Every Day is a Holiday (With You)
The Weekend - Temporary Insanity

Have a freakin' good weekend, and I'll see you on Thursday. Bring your homework! Next week: More beaver product reviews, a surprise interview, me telling you why you should give the station money, and the Beaver Lodge's SPOOOOOKY HALLOWEEN SHOW.

Cheers,

- Alex
